Zoe's Club at Spetses island Greece is located five minutes walk from the main port of Dapia.
Half of the complex consists of an existing large nineteenth century building and the remainder consists of two later additions. It retains the traditional architectural character of the Spetses island. Traditional island materials were used, such as byzantine roof tile, slate tiles and terra cotta on the room floors, local marble on the bathroom walls and floor.
There is a sitting room with a small kitchen and one to three bedrooms in each apartment. Each one has its own balcony and terrace. There are both one and two storey units, connected by a wooden staircase, where the fireplace and TV are the focus in the living room, while interior arcs and alcoves determine the others.
As mentioned above, traditional materials were used and combined with modern technology, allowing exceptional heat and sound insulation. Furthermore, although the interior decoration varies between apartments, the high standard of the equipment used is constant. All areas are air-conditioned, there is satellite TV and the telephone switchbox allows direct access to an external line.
The spectacular pool has unobstructed view to the sea, surrounded by traditional Spetses houses. A snack bar located by the pool caters for the needs of the guests, day and night. The side of the pool closest to the wall is approximately four meters away from the sidewalk and even though the complex is in the city of Spetses, the location of the buildings allows the complex to be a very quiet and peaceful one.
The view from the complex is towards the sea. Fig and olive trees can also be seen around. The open spaces are covered by lawn or tiled with stone and cotto tiles. Large wooden pergolas provide shade for both public areas and private terraces. The small octagonal kiosk located at the entrance functions as a checkpoint and reception for the complex.
Spetses Island
Spetses island lies just off the Peloponnese coast about 60 miles south west of Athens.
It has changed remarkably little over the years.
Between the traditional houses, the narrow cobbled alleys and yards are laid with different coloured pebbles, forming mosaic like designs, generally of mythic sea pictures - a characteristic of the island.
Spetses island in Greece was long ago famous as a boat building centre and even today the lovely old harbour is crammed with boats in all stages of construction. All along the coast enchanting little bays and coves provide an idyllic setting for bathing in the crystal clear water, or merely lazing in the sun.
Spetses island's location (5 minutes by taxi-boat from the coast of the Peloponnese) makes it ideally suited as a base for daily excursions to a vast array of sites of archaeological and historic interest, as well as to some of the most picturesque villages and beautiful places in Greece. We would be more than happy to provide you with information on possible excursions or indeed arrange all the travel details for you.
